DENTAL PROGRAM

 

GENERAL INFORMATION:

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit's dental staff provide programs in accordance with the Ministry of Health's Mandatory Health Programs and Services Guidelines.

These include the following:

a)    Dental surveying of junior and senior kindergarten students as well as grade 2 and 8 students for the 2007-2008 school year.

b)    Dental screening for those students:

  • referred in the previous year

  • that parents have requested

  • any additional students as directed by the Ministry of Health guidelines 

c)    Referral of eligible children to the dentist for examination and in some  cases provide funding for treatment, through CINOT (Children in Need of Treatment) program, again upon eligibility.

d)    Provision of clinical services (topical fluoride and / or pit and fissure sealants) for those children with parental consent that meet the Ministry of Health criteria.

Dental staff includes three hygienists, three certified dental assistants, one program administrative assistant, one dental consultant (D.D.S.) and one program manager and a program director.
