This is a common practice in many parts of Ontario. The physician orders the test using the patient's initials or a code and takes responsibility, with the patient, for notifying partners who may have been exposed. The local Medical Officer of Health will check with the physician about the case and, if satisfied that the partners have been notified, will not ask for the person's name. The Clinic-Sexual Health Services for all offers Non-Nominal testing to all individuals.
