The plan is to have as many moms as possible breastfeed at the same time

North Bay: Veritasse Coffee Bar 194 Main St W.
Burks Falls: Public Library, corner of Copeland and Young.
Parry Sound: Early Learning Centre, Parry Sound Mall, 70 Joseph St.
Registration begins at 10:30 AM at all locations

Everyone is welcome to attend and show their support for breastfeeding.

The Breastfeeding Challenge is part of World Breastfeeding Week which recognizes breastfeeding as the normal way to feed infants. This year’s theme is Breastfeeding – a Vital Emergency Response Are you ready?. During any emergency such as a power outage, an influenza outbreak or a situation with an unsafe water supply the provision of human milk through breastfeeding offers a clean, safe and secure supply of food and water for infants and young children as well as protection from illness. The following slogan expresses this.
During a boiled water advisory…….human milk is safe
When the power is out………breastmilk is the right temperature
During a flu outbreak……..human milk provides protection

The local Breastfeeding Coalitions provide support for breastfeeding mothers through education, by encouraging local businesses and communities to support breastfeeding and become Breastfeeding Friendly and through peer support programs. Also, public health nurses provide support by telephone, at home visits and at the Early Years Centers.
