MEDICATIONS DURING PREGNANCY |
Printable Version |
- Whether you are planning a pregnancy, are pregnant or are breastfeeding, it is important to think about what medications you are taking and the effect these might have on your baby.
- If you have just found out that you are pregnant it is important not to stop taking your medication abruptly without talking to your health care provider first.
- Your health care provider will assess your situation and decide with you, if you should continue taking the medication, switch to a safer medication or stop taking it.
Over the Counter Medications
- Over the counter medications are also important to consider.
- Tylenol, cough syrup and antihistamines are some of the many medications that you need to consider during pregnancy.
- Any medication you take, whether it is prescribed or bought on a counter at a pharmacy needs to be discussed with your health care provider.
