The Breastfeeding Peer Support Program is...
- a mother-to-mother telephone support program
- preferably arranged before you have your baby, but could be arranged once your baby is born
- provided by trained volunteers who have breastfed their babies for at least six months and have completed a training course
- to provide breastfeeding support and non-medical information to women during their pre-natal as well as post-natal period
- confidential
- offered by the Breastfeeding Peer Support Committee of North Bay & District
The Breastfeeding Peer Support Program will...
- contact you before you have your baby, if you are pregnant
- link an experienced breastfeeding mother with a new breastfeeding mother to provide telephone support
- continue to contact you on a regular basis to give you support, guidance and encouragement up to six months and beyond as needed
- inform you of other breastfeeding supports available
- direct you to a lactation professional/midwife/physician as needed
